The Success of Rolex

A crown for every achievement, Rolex.

But, where does the name Rolex come from? Here is the answer: "It was one morning when I was sitting on the upper level of a double-decker powered at that time by horses, driving along Cheapside in London, that a good genie whispered in my ear: "Rolex.", Founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf

Pioneering: Rolex's Oyster Perpetual stands as the pioneer in waterproof watches. The initial test of its waterproof capabilities was conducted by Mercedes Gleitze, a British swimmer who successfully crossed the English Channel wearing the watch in 1927. This test conclusively proved the watch's waterproof functionality.

Rolex's Explorer made history as the first watch to demonstrate its suitability for high altitudes. In 1953, during their historic ascent of Mount Everest, Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary had the sterotypes of the Rolex Explorer.

Marketing: From its inception, Rolex has been the sole watch brand to advertise in newspapers. Even today, it remains at the forefront of advertising in events. From early 1900s until today, the Rolex logo is widely recognised and admired by many consumers, establishing itself as a leading and pioneering symbol in the world of watches.

Unique Lines: We often use the term 'Rolex Green'. This term comes from the 16610 (black-bezel Rolex Submariner), which had been a timeless classic for years. Its distinguishing feature was the green bezel, earning it the nickname 'Kermit'.
